Extraordinary resources are required in order to offer immediate help to a child whose father has suddenly been taken from him or a young mother of a large family who loses her husband from one minute to the next for example in a car accident, terror attack or sudden death transforming her and her children into a stunned state.
The first two or three meetings starting even during Shiva, orient the widow to her new situation which she has been suddenly thrust into. The Rebbetzin talks to her lovingly and with boundless understanding, she teaches her how to accept her new situation and carry on, often providing the help she needs to get on with her life from getting out of bed in the morning in a positive frame of mind, to dealing with her children.
Zeh LaZeh counselors will talk to the children who possibly don't even want to go to school, and will speak to the children's principals and their teachers, so they'll better understand how to be supportive and lessen the impact of the trauma.
Often the dire circumstances are such that Zeh LaZeh has to provide intensive emotional help requiring the services of psychologists and even psychiatrists to assist both the widows and their children cope with their world that has collapsed around them.
When necessary, Zeh LaZeh will arrange to send a widow, who despite all intervention, is still on the verge of collapse away for a weekend with her children to a luxurious hotel.
